Road, Movie!

Mar 14th, 2010 | By | Category: Movie Review

I have always been a fan of Abhay Deol, and look forward to his films. Maybe that’s because his movies can be harsh, in an in-your-face kind of way, and can also be very close to reality at other times. Dev D and Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye are two of his movies I’m referring to here. It was after these movies were released that I started following his movies. But, I digress… back to the movie review.

Road, Movie is based on a journey taken by Vishnu (Abhay Deol).

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge!

Mar 11th, 2010 | By | Category: Movie Review

After a hectic week it was time to relax on the weekend, and what better way than to watch a comedy. Well that is what I was expecting the movie to be. To my disappointment, this was a badly done cocktail and, to my horror, a sheer waste of some real good actors.

The movie starts with Ajay Devgan, who happens to be a film writer, narrating a movie story. A joke lifted from a Pakistani play, which I just wished they had lifted completely, than just do a rehash.

Old Dogs- A Review!

What happens when you have two seasoned actors of Hollywood – Robin Williams and John Travolta – getting together in one movie? You would think that even with a very ordinary script, the movie would be high on entertainment, and your money would be well spent.

Well, not really. This movie is a disappointment; the director, Walt Becker, has just wasted two great and very professional actors. The story is weak, and the only saving grace in the movie are a few funny moments…

Beyond Barriers…

At times one wonders, why are these nations separate in the first place. That debate aside for the moment, what is it that makes us hate people? There are enough problems around us to submerge ourselves in and deal with, but we forget all that is around us and pay more attention to what someone on a TV channel is telling us.

Look at what we are missing out on, I am a hardcore cricket fan, and I will speak for myself, that I miss watching the fast bowlers from across the border playing in our IPL

Rann – Or, Was it Run?

Feb 2nd, 2010 | By | Category: Movie Review

I had a lot of expectations from the movie after watching the promos, and that just added to the disappointment. Choosing to watch Amitabh Bachchan in Rann, over Ishqiya, proved to be a wrong decision it seems. The movie could have been better with a stronger story line. The actors have done their bit, but this movie can be a classic example of what can happen when even though your actors perform well, you don’t have a good story to tell – the movie just seems ordinary.

A Tear Drop, and A Scar!

How I wish I spoke
How I wish I cared
How I wish this was not just a wish
How I wish I had known

You still are my angel
My darling sweetheart
This body so blue
A tear drop and a scar

20 Years, 1 Billion Hopes, 1 Man

I can still remember, as a kid, when I started learning the rules of the game called cricket, I saw a young, lean, kid moving around with the likes of Kapil Dev on his tour to Pakistan. I was learning the game, and it was nice to see a kid of nearly my height playing for the country – at that age it made me feel that even we could play with the so called “season ball”. Watching the likes of Waquar, Wasim and Imran Khan bowl bouncers to this kid, and the determination of this kid to go on and score a fifty against them, was just a start.

Inglourious Basterds – A Review!

Nov 3rd, 2009 | By | Category: Movie Review

Inglourious Basterds is just one of the masterpieces from Quentin Tarantino (and after this movie you can expect many more). With this movie, however, he has raised the bar even for himself. The movie is shot mostly in Germany and France, and Tarantino has the gift of creating magic by getting into details, especially when it comes to making a period movie.
If you are expecting a typical war movie with lots of gun shots, tanks and air bombing raids, you will be disappointed.
