The surprise winner is Orkut with 37.5 % readers saying that Orkut is the most popular social networking site. At second place is Facebook with 30 % readers voting for it. I was expecting Facebook to emerge as the winner because of it gaining immense popularity the world over? in recent times. My Space, which was once the favorite destination of all fans of social networking site fans has now dropped in user popularity, though I am sure the die-hard My Space fans still stand by the old war-horse.?

There has been an increase in the number of social networking sites off late, but it does not seem probable that any of them will be able to carve out a niche for themselves as the big players have already dug their teeth deep in the market. There is very little room for any new entrant. But one thing that the Internet has taught us is – Never say Never!
