In our last poll we asked our readers, “Do you think the world is headed towards an economic recession?” the ominous steps of footfalls of recession could already be heard not too far away. It is evident that our readers could also hear these footsteps because a majority ( 77.1 %) had voted “yes”.

Now, almost a month later it is official. It?s happening again. The recession has come back to haunt us.

The year 2008 belongs to two Indian sports persons, and none of them, thankfully, are from the cricketing world. One of them is Abhinav Bindra, who gave India its first ever individual Olympic gold medal in 108 years. In doing so, the businessman from Chandigarh also ended India’s wait for gold since the hockey team fetched the yellow metal in the Moscow Olympics in 1980.
